Method

  1. In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), brown sugar, cornstarch, beef broth, and ginger. Set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add sliced beef and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove beef and set aside.
  4. Add remaining oil to the skillet. Toss in broccoli and stir-fry for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp.
  5. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Return the beef to the skillet and pour in the sauce.
  7. Stir everything together and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
  8. Remove from heat and serve hot over cooked rice.
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds or green onions if desired.

Notes

You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or rib-eye for a different flavor.
The oyster sauce is optional, but it adds a rich, umami depth to the dish.
If you prefer a spicier dish, add red pepper flakes or sliced chili peppers.
For a healthier option, serve the stir-fry over cauliflower rice instead of regular rice.
