Method
 

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  2. Stir in the BBQ sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 5–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens slightly and is well combined.
  4. Toast the sandwich buns if desired.
  5. Spoon the BBQ beef mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Add desired toppings, then place the top bun over the filling.
  6. Serve warm with your favorite sides.
